Hold Baggage Reconciliation (HBR) is a critical component of aviation security and a mandatory training requirement for all personnel involved in the HBR process. Our online HBR training courses are designed to meet UK aviation security regulations and provide role-specific learning for airport and ground operations staff.
Courses can be completed entirely online, except for the Appointed Person version, which requires a practical assessment. Candidates must complete a background check prior to accessing this course in accordance with aviation security standards.
This version of the HBR course is suitable for staff working both front and back of house, including FBO multi-skilled operatives. This is not suitable for staff serving as an appointed person.

- Module 7 – Procedures and Techniques of Baggage Reconciliation – Check-In
- Module 8 – Baggage Make-up and Transfer
- Module 9 – Aircraft Loading
- Module 10 – The Gate
Modules 1-5 will be required if the candidate does not already have a valid GSAT certificate.
Assessment
All versions of this course include an online knowledge test with a pass mark of 80%. It can be attempted up to 3 times.
The Appointed Person version of the course requires a live practical assessment. This will be conducted live via Microsoft Teams or in person, under the supervision of a CAA instructor.
Suitability
Who should do this course?
Anyone involved in the hold baggage reconciliation process requires HBR training. This includes check-in staff, gate staff, baggage loaders, ramp staff, aircraft loading supervisors, and more.
This version of the HBR course is suitable for staff working both front- and back-of-house, including FBO multi-skilled operatives. This is not suitable for staff serving as an appointed person.

Certificate
This course includes a PDF certificate, available immediately upon successful completion.
The certificate is valid for 5 years. However, refresher training will be required if competencies are not exercised for six months or more (e.g., long-term sickness or extended leave).
Some airports may also require more frequent refresher training.
