The Aircraft Loading and Unloading online course is designed to equip FBO and ground handling personnel with the essential skills and knowledge required for safe and efficient aircraft loading and unloading operations. The course covers key principles, including aircraft ground stability, cargo hold inspections, bulk and ULD handling, and general principles to consider when operating equipment.

Participants will also learn how to manage special loads, identify hazardous materials, prevent tail tipping during loading, and recognise essential aircraft documents, such as the Loading Instruction (LIR) and NOTOC.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise aircraft hold layouts, numbering systems, and key considerations when using Unit Load Devices (ULDs).
  • Identify the purpose of aircraft loading documentation and explain why loading instructions must be followed.
  • Report spillages, damage, or other issues within the aircraft hold promptly and appropriately.
  • Apply general safety precautions during loading and unloading procedures.

Assessment

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz that must be completed online and graded immediately, with a passing score of 80%. If you fail, you can re-attempt it, and tutor support can be provided upon request.

A competency assessment template is also provided, which can be completed in the workplace to complement the knowledge certificate.
